A ventilated rainscreen system is a proven solution for protecting structures from water ingress and thermal stress. By pairing Novano’s dimensionally stable composite cladding with a calculated airflow gap, architects and developers can create a “breathable” façade that helps extend the lifespan and performance of the building.

The Role of the Ventilated Cavity

A rainscreen system consists of an outer cladding layer, such as Novano Composite Cladding, installed over a moisture-resistant barrier. The defining feature is the ventilated air cavity between these layers. In tropical environments across Asia, this gap serves two primary functions:

1. Pressure Equalisation

 It neutralises wind-driven rain from tropical squalls by equalising the pressure between the exterior and the internal cavity.
